Craft brewing raw material ingredients featured at forum
Thursday, July 19, 2018
8 - 9:30 a.m.
Origin Malts co-founder, Victor Thorne, will present craft brewing trends and supply dynamics of raw material ingredients such as malting barley, at the Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum. The event is hosted by the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation (AIF).
Historical externalities have affected the craft brewing industry and have created opportunities for new entrants to solve gaps in the supply chain. Origin Malts, a supply chain agribusiness focused on producing and processing small grains for the food and beverage industry, has been growing and testing Puffin, a two- row winter malting barley with Scottish bloodlines since the winter of 2010-11. Regional brewers are currently testing the locally grown malt.
Arrive early, as breakfast and informal networking will start at 8 a.m., with the program to follow. The cost is just $10 per person when you RSVP in advance, or $12 per person at the door without RSVP (cash or check) which includes breakfast and networking opportunities.
The Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum is an educational networking opportunity to provide information on current issues, trends and programs available to the agricultural community and those who support its advancement.
