Pollution Prevention Webinar: Reducing Energy Bills through Power Factor Correction
Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 | 2 – 3 p.m.
Power factor is defined as the “ratio of real power to apparent power.” Why do you need to know that? Why is it important to you? Can you or should you do anything with your power factor?
This concept of “power factor” and its importance to your business and bottom line will be discussed during this webinar presented by Doug Medley of Matrix Technologies. If you are a plant manager, plant engineer, maintenance manager or a plant financial director, you likely have a stake in knowing and understanding your facility’s power factor.
Power factor is an often misunderstood measure of your plants electrical energy usage. In some ways, it is a measure of your equipment’s efficiency in consuming electrical energy. Electrical utility companies typically penalize facilities for having low power factors.
These penalties can be significant-costing even small facilities thousands of dollars a month. Understanding, and ultimately improving, your power factor and reducing your monthly energy bill will be the focus of this presentation.
