Luckey Farmers, established in 1919, is a leading grain marketing and farm supply cooperative located in Northwest Ohio, serving Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood counties. With nearly 700 members, the cooperative operates six grain facilities, three agronomy centers, and three fuel stations. Luckey Farmers consistently delivers top-quality farm products and services, fostering the success of its members, employees, and the community. Their commitment to agricultural excellence and community support has made Luckey Farmers a pillar in the regional farming industry.
Recently, they faced productivity and organizational challenges at one of its locations. Disorganization issues in the facility led to reduced efficiency and throughput, which in turn affected overall performance. Recognizing the need for a streamlined process to enhance productivity, Luckey Farmers sought a solution to maintain its operational excellence.
Our team was able to address these challenges by providing comprehensive on-site process education and hands-on shop floor experience. The implementation of Lean Principles and Techniques formed the core of the solution. By restructuring and optimizing the workflow, CIFT significantly improved organizational efficiency at Luckey Farmers.
The partnership between Luckey Farmers and CIFT produced quantifiable results. The initiative attracted a new investment of $100,000, which boosted the cooperative’s operational capacity. Additionally, the project led to the creation and retention of four jobs, strengthening the local economy. The implementation of Lean Principles also resulted in cost savings of $10,000, demonstrating the effectiveness of the optimized workflow.
